Our Tribute to Bluegrass Legend Horace Scruggs

Horace on Stage - 2005

FlintHill was named for the birthplace of Horace Scruggs, one of the founding members of the band.  Horace, along with his brother Earl, helped shape the very foundation of bluegrass music, and became a recognizable part of its culture.

Although Horace decided to retire from the band in late 2005, he still enjoys the occasional “jams” and gatherings that helped form the band, and the close relationships that still exist.  We are proud of what Horace contributed to FlintHill, and still consider him as a mentor and a true friend.
